Eating Out: Society Fair

posted on: Tuesday, October 2, 2012

Today was a stressful day. This morning I had traffic court which resulted in me no longer having a perfect driving record. To top it all off it was raining. Not only was it raining, it was pouring. I was dressed up and in flats. The worst part was that I forgot or misplaced my umbrella. I ended up getting drenched trying to get back to my car from the courthouse. I did purchase a small umbrella to get me through the day but then I lost that one too. I left it behind at a little restaurant/market.

The highlight of my day was going on at a little place in Alexandria called, Society Fair. My cousin, Vina was there doing work and I decided I would stop by. I had a very delicious Bloody Mary to get me over this morning as well as a delicious sandwich. I decided to try the "P.G.T." which is a prosciutto, marinated green tomatoes and provolone picante on a baguette. It was a little on the pricier side at $11 dollars however, I think it was worth it. The ingredients were really fresh.
I ended up going a little overboard at the market store and left with over $50 worth of items. You would think I would walk out with half the store unfortunately, I barely dented it! I did however get my lunch/dinner for tomorrow since I am working the late shift. I decided to get the pre-packaged ham sandwich and a soba noodle salad. I got two different types of cheese, cola gummies, farmhouse crisps, a can of San Pellegrino Aranciata and nougat with hazelnuts.
Society Fair is off South Washington St. with ample street parking on a good day. There are two entrances, one for the Wine Bar & Demo Kitchen and the other is for the Market. I spent most of my time in the Market but I'll go back and hang out at the WB&DK some time soon, maybe even bring a date?

Here are some photos from the market side in no particular order:

All photos taken with the only camera I had on hand, my iPhone.

  1. Look at my fair, looking all pretty. Forgive the late comment, I'm behind like a bitch on my Google Reader.
