Last night I had the pleasure of attending a Symantec presentation about mobile security to discuss the options and future of security because lets face it, we need it. I learned a lot actually seeing as I have only had experience managing a BES environment and now that Droids and iPhones are in the market to stay, I need to be up to date!
Did I also mention that I got a new haircut? Probably not. Anyway, the overall length is the same however Celso at Bang Salon added more layers and gave me side bangs. It's a start! I did say I was going to get a new haircut for 2012! I may go for a more Zooey Deschanel bangs later this year but for now I am happy with the cut though if I wear it my usual wash and go style..I have high volume waves..it's going to take some getting used to!
The game was amazing and almost gave me a scare however Mathieu Perrault's hat trick really made the game! It was very exciting and I got to network and meet some new people. Also, can I please have my hat back?

TAKE ACTION. End piracy, not liberty.

Imagine you tried to go to your favorite website and it was gone. No explanation, you can't even Google it.

If SOPA/PIPA were passed, did you know that if you were to upload and share a Michael Jackson video/song, you would face a prison term of one year longer than the doctor who killed him? Do you like listening to Cathy Nguyen on YouTube? Yeah, that won't be there either.

How can you help stop this? Contact your Congressman, now! Don't let this bill pass and become a law.

Jason Wu for Target 2012

posted on: Tuesday, January 10, 2012

I'm usually just a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl and if I could get away with wearing pajamas and sweats all day I would. However, every once in a while I like to dress up just to look/feel cute. When I see pieces that I like, I immediately fall in love. I'm trying to break out a little more and be a little more fashionable. Then maybe I'll be taken a little more seriously and step out of being everyone's "little sister".

I've been seeing advertisement for the Jason Wu for Target line and I'm actually really excited about it! Jason Wu's design is modern and totally wearable. The line releases on February 5th so be ready! Another plus is that nothing is over $60. I admit that I wasn't even this excited when Missoni designed for Target however, I was able to snag a pair of flats way after the whole rush! I'm wondering if this release will be as crazy as Missoni because I haven't heard of people going crazy over other designers at Target. Did I also mention that I have one of those Mulberry for Target bags? Awesome designers collaborating with Target..just another reason why that's my favorite store.

Celebrating Epiphany - French Traditions

posted on: Sunday, January 8, 2012

I hope the new year has been treating everyone well! I made a resolution to try and cook more so I decided to share a little tradition that we've recently started celebrating in my parent's home. My step family are French (same ethnic background as me however, I'm American). They introduced us to the celebration of Epiphany, which is the end of the 12 days of Christmas and the day that the Three Kings finally made it to baby Jesus bearing gifts. The French celebrate this day with a Galette Des Rois. I've tried making this before and failed miserably my first two times last year. Lets just say that math isn't my strong point, I had to convert measurements. However I finally found the right combination that fits with the ready-to-use puff pastry from Pepperidge Farm which is actually a lot smaller than the ones in France. The pastry is baked with a hidden feve (bean) but nowadays little trinkets are used like porcelain figurines.
I didn't exactly use precise measurements but this is what has been working for me. I'll give you the recipe I used and explain what I did although there aren't any actual rules I followed. I made sure that I made just enough filling for the puff pastry that was readily available to me.

Dan About Town - January 2012 Edition

Greetings my children of the revolution ("Occupy Whoomp! Street" is in full effect.)

It is I, Dan Dastardly, with my first official post for Sunday Scene. First off, I want to give a shout out (this is still cool to do, right?) to my sister from another mister, Ginnie! Thank you kindly for allowing me to tarnish your good name and blog with my incoherent ramblings. You have been a true friend since the beginning and I would gladly throw down for you in the event there is a skirmish or heated debate. Careful evildoers...I'm a mean conversationalist and will lull you to sleep with my eloquence and stab you in the eye with the nearest #2 pencil.

Sunday Scene is where it's at folks and if you aren't following this blog...well then, your future babies will surely be born with some type of deformity and will later suffer from severe mental illness. But that goes without saying, so let's get right into this introductory post.

Here is the lay of the land, so to speak. I'll start off by poisoning your delicate minds with some "Random Existentialism" (or jibber-jabber, as I have just done in this post) followed by name dropping my "Album of the Month" and "Film of the Month." I'll try to refrain from too much pretentious hipster dialogue, but that is what is trendy these days, right? Hold on to your britches.

No Hay Banda

SUMMER CAMP - "Welcome to Condale"
These songs of love, loss and self-discovery will have you nostalgic for an 80's teenage coming of age story that may or may not have really existed.

Mise-En-Scene THREE COLORS TRILOGY - Directed by Krzysztof Kieslowski
Here I go starting off on the wrong foot by using an entire trilogy as my single choice for film of the month. However, these three films ("Blue," "White," and "Red") are each a puzzle piece in the overall theme of the trilogy: "the inter-connectedness of all things." Kieslowski is a genius and his ability to shine light on the smaller, yet intimately important things in life helps cement the Disney ideology that "it's a small world after all."

Well, my darlings...that is all until next month! By the way, who is part of this audience to whom I speak to in a creepily forthcoming manner? I would love to hear from you! No, that wasn't a "stranger with candy" type of invite. There is nothing to fear and of course your mom and dad sent me to pick you up for school. Don't make a fuss and just hop into my love shack, er, um...motor vehicle and I shall drive you safely to your destination. Your feedback is always appreciated. Happy New Year!

2012: We at the motel, hotel, Holiday Inn

posted on: Monday, January 2, 2012

I rang in the new year with a few friends. It was a lot of fun. We went to Rock & Roll Hotel in the H Street corridor and danced our fannies off. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos since my camera battery was low and I was too busy dancing and running around to take photos. We started out the night eating dumplings and ramen at Toki Underground then ended at our final destination with an awesome open bar. The event was sold out and DJ Dirty Steve killed it! I hope everyone had a fantastic celebration and that the new year brings forth more opportunities and happiness.
